Who Will be the Next Player Selected to Train in Munich?

February 20th, Waltham, MA, 2019;  GPS and FC Bayern Munich are delighted to announce that the 2019 FC Bayern ID Residential Camps will take place across five separate locations this summer with a South, North, West, Midwest and new for ‘19 the inaugural Canada camp set to take place.

This will mark the third year in a row that the FC Bayern ID Residential program has debuted a location and is testament to the overwhelming success of the ID program. In 2017 the first West Coast Residential Camp was held with Midwest (Illinois) being added in ‘18. The Canada camp, to be held in Ontario is made possible via GPS growth throughout Canada.

The FC Bayern ID Residential Camp is the culmination of the FC Bayern ID programs held throughout the United States during 2018/19 season that focuses on Boys and Girls born in 2007 & 2008.  In 2017/2018 over 1000 players participated in the program across 22 States.

Following the conclusion of each camp, two players, one boy and one girl, will be selected to travel to Munich in November to experience a week of training at the state-of-the-art FC Bayern Campus. FC Bayern staff led by Sebastian Dremmler will be on location to help coach and lead sessions in North America this summer with the camp featuring multiple workshops and training sessions based on the methodology that is applied in Munich with the FC Bayern Junior Teams.

The first camp of the summer is the Southern Residential camp taking place from June 19th-22nd at Armstrong University in Savannah, GA this will be followed by the North camp at Hillside School in Marlborough, MA running from June 24th until June 27th. The University of Guelph will be the venue for the inaugural Canada camp which will run from July 11th to 14th.  The West Residential Camp will take place from August 4th-7th at the University of California in Santa Barbara, CA as part of the second visit of the FC Bayern Staff. Staff will then travel from California to Lake Forest Academy in Lake Forest, IL for the Midwest event from August 8th-11th.

As part of FC Bayern’s commitment to the US market, the club has put structures in place to coordinate FC Bayern Player ID program across the country. This program offers players a unique training experience delivered under the guidance of the experienced coaching staff at GPS. The aim of the program is to identify players with the potential to become 1st team players capable of representing FC Bayern Munich at a professional level.
