September 12th, Waltham, MA, 2018; Global Premier Soccer are pleased to announce the selection of eight players who have earned the chance to travel to Germany, all expenses paid, and experience a week of training with FC Bayern Munich.
This summer GPS hosted four FC Bayern ID Camps for players aged 11 and 12. The 4-day residential camps were attended by the best players in the GPS network of clubs with almost 400 players participated across the four locations.
Going from a list of 400 prospective players to 8 is never easy but these players put on terrific displays at their respective camps and all are more than worthy of this achievement.
The eight players selected are as follows:
Fall 2018 Training Week:
Dante Sciberras - GPS Canada Academy
Tyler Bush - GPS Florida West
Leo Christiano - GPS Buffalo
Taylor Phillips - GPS California
Spring 2019 Training Week:
Finn Cregan - Rochester FC
Marti Caballes - GPS San Diego
Olivia Chen - Ottawa
The beginning of the summer was marked by the North and South ID camps, held in Massachusetts and Georgia respectively, in late June. The West ID Camp kicked off in early August and was held at UC Santa Barbara while the first ever Midwest ID Camp was held at Lake Forest Academy just outside of Chicago.
Members of the FC Bayern Munich International Academy staff traveled to the United States and were present for each camp. These staff members, which included 1990 World Cup winner Klaus Augenthaler, ran two sessions per day for the players in attendance.
The FC Bayern ID Program, a club neutral program established in 2015, is geared towards discovering the most talented players with the potential to represent FC Bayern at a professional level. All ID coaches are required to follow a strict development plan that falls in line with FC Bayern’s methodology.
The GPS-FC Bayern partnership, which began in 2014, was extended in early 2017. This extended partnership will see FC Bayern coaches double their presence in in the U.S. exchanging best practices, providing curriculum and methodology support, conducting Player Identification programming.
