Players, Parents and Coaches set for exciting April Vacation in Munich

The GPS community has a busy and exciting week coming up that will see over 100 people travel to Munich to participate in various events in conjunction with our partner FC Bayern from April 13th to April 20th.

GPS will be sending two teams, U12 and U11 Boys, to experience a week of training at the FC Bayern campus. While there they will participate in sessions at the campus run not only by GPS coaches but by the staff at FC Bayern.

28 players, followed by 50+ parents, will be making the trip as part of the FC Bayern April Tour. Coaches Robert Peltram, Rohit Gautam and Lloyd Miller led the team selection process and will have the fantastic task to get players ready to express GPS Style of play in front of our German partner.

During the week the teams will train directly with FC Bayern coaches in addition to GPS staff while also getting to play in 3 massive fixtures. The teams will open play on Tuesday afternoon against TSV Milbertshofen and will take on 1860 Rosenheim on Thursday night before departing Munich on Friday.

The true gem of the games though is the one situated in the middle of those two fixtures as GPS teams will get the chance to take on the host of the week’s festivities when they run out against the FC Bayern U11 and U12 youth squads. This will mark the first time ever that GPS teams have come head-to-head against a FC Bayern squad.

GPS Staff will also be participating in a technical visit to the campus with 14 coaches heading to Munich. They will spend their days taking part in various coaching training and workshop sessions . They will end each day by taking in either training sessions or games being held at the campus. This is the 4th technical trip of its kind that GPS staff have taken to Munich.

Lastly, Alejandro Paula, a player representing GPS Florida West, is taking part in the trip but will be doing so as an ID player.

Alejandro was selected from one of the GPS FC Bayern ID Residential camps in 2017, specifically the Southern ID camp, as the recipient of an all expenses paid week of training at the Bavarian club. He will have the opportunity to train 3 times with the FC Bayern U13 squad before heading back to the US.

The trip isn’t all about business though as players and coaches alike will have the opportunity to experience a Bundesliga match day on Saturday April 14th when newly minted champions FC Bayern take on Borussia Moenchengladbach at the Allianz Arena.

This will not be their only trip to the stadium during the week however as tours of the stadium will be provided as well.

It is sure to be an exciting week for all of those involved! From training with FC Bayern coaches to getting to play FC Bayern’s youth team, it is sure to be nonstop action.

Keep an eye out on our social media accounts over the weekend and throughout next week to see what sort of fun everyone is having while taking advantage of this great and unique opportunity.
