The GPS and FC Bayern partnership will see another major advancement in 2018 with the FC Bayern staff on the ground in the US for a total total of 8 weeks. Coaches will travel over in two major blocks and conduct two trips.
The FC Bayern ID Residential Camps will take place across four separate locations this summer with a South, North, West and new for ‘18 the inaugural Midwest camp set to take place. This will mark the second year in a row that the FC Bayern ID Residential program has debuted a location, with the West Residential Camp starting in ‘17. The Midwest camp, to be held in Illinois is made possible via the partnership with Chicago City SC as well as growing GPS affiliations throughout Canada, Minnesota and Michigan.
The FC Bayern ID Residential Camp is the culmination of the FC Bayern ID programs held throughout the United States during 2017/18 season that focuses on Boys and Girls born in 2006 & 2007. In 2017/2018 over 1000 have been participating in the program across 22 States.
Following the conclusion of each camp, two players, one boy and one girl, will be selected to travel to Munich in November to experience a week of training at the FC Bayern Campus. FC Bayern staff led by Sebastian Dremmler will be on location to help coach and lead sessions. The camp will feature multiple workshops and training sessions based on the methodology that is applied in Munich with the FC Bayern Junior Teams.
The first camp of the summer is the Southern Residential camp taking place from June 20-23 at Armstrong University in Savannah, GA this will be followed by the North camp at Hillside School in Marlborough, MA running from June 25 until June 28. The second ever West Residential Camp will take place from August 5-8 at the University of California in Santa Barbara, CA as part of the second visit of the FC Bayern Staff. Staff will then travel from California to Lake Forest Academy in Lake Forest, IL for the Midwest event (August 9th-12th)l
In addition to the four Residential Camps for both 06 & 07 Boys and Girls, the Midwest Camp and the West Camp will host a group of selected 20 Girls 2001-03 in order to increase connectivity with FC Bayern Frauen Program. One player will be selected from amongst the pool of players from both camps to join the other 8 in Munich come November.
Last year, GPS-VT player Aki Yuasa spent a week long trial in Munich in November as part of the FC Bayern ID program. While there she took part in the full FC Bayern experience as well as a week of training sessions with the FC Bayern Frauen 1st team.
As part of FC Bayern’s commitment to the US market, the club has put structures in place to coordinate FC Bayern Player ID program across the country. This program offers players a unique training experience delivered under the guidance of the experienced coaching staff at GPS. The aim of the program is to identify players with the potential to become 1st team players capable of representing FC Bayern Munich at a professional level.
