October 29th, 2019, Waltham, MA;

Club Name: Blaine Soccer Club

Year Founded: 1975

Background on your program (area you serve, how long have you been a fixture in the community, etc): Blaine Soccer Club is home to both recreational and competitive (travel) programs. The recreational program boasts an impressive 1000 participants on average each season while the competitive/travel program fields 60 competitive teams consisting of around 900 players. Blaine SC’s focus is always directly on the player and their welfare with a full-time staff overseeing their training and development.

Why made you partner with GPS? What was the driving factor? We wanted to expand and improve upon the quality of product we offer. Partnering with GPS provided us with an opportunity to not only have a full-time staff dedicated to player development but we were able to improve the quality of coaching we offered. GPS opened the pathway for us to bring in new coaches with different experiences and qualifications while allowing our current staff the chance to further their own education.

What is your club mission statement: Blaine Soccer Club is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing quality soccer programs for the youth of our community. The goal is to provide opportunities to play and train with an emphasis on development, fun, sportsmanship and teamwork in a positive soccer environment.

Biggest Success Story this season: Our biggest success story of the season is the club earning Players First Accreditation from US Club Soccer. Players First is a branded, holistic club soccer experience for parents and players, which emphasizes the development of each individual to his or her full potential, and helps parents make better choices about where their children should play.

Goals for the 2019/2020 season: Continued Coach Education for staff, improve parent engagement initiatives, grow opportunities for players and their teams.
