March 22, 2019, Waltham, MA: Global Premier Soccer (GPS) and Compete Indoor Sports are proud to announce an extensive strategic partnership that will establish a new GPS region out of the Compete Indoor Sports facility in Norwood beginning this spring.
Compete Indoor Sports is an extension of Compete Sports and Conditioning which was founded by Joe Drain in 2012. Drain, a former Assumption College soccer captain, and his staff oversees the state of the art Compete Indoor Sports facility which boasts 25,000 square feet and an 8v8 turf soccer field. Compete currently runs a success soccer training academy and a number of youth indoor leagues.
GPS, the official North American Partner of FC Bayern Munich, is one of the largest and most successful soccer organizations in North America, providing player development programming in 27 states and in Canada.
The partnership will see the existing GPS Metro South region rebranded to GPS Compete and all training relocated to the Compete facility. The newly named region will support programming for players based in Norwood, Bellingham, Blackstone, Canton, Foxboro, Franklin, Hopedale, Medway, Mendon, Milford, Norfolk, Plainville, Sharon, Stoughton, Walpole and Wrentham.
“This is an exciting partnership for GPS and we look forward to working with Compete Indoor Sports to develop our programming in and around the Norwood area,” said GPS Premier Director Matt Hardiman. “Having a consistent, convenient facility for families on an artificial surface will enable us to provide a superior player development experience when aligned with our outstanding coaches,” said Hardiman.
“Compete was founded with the mission of providing local athletes with high quality coaching in a facility that allows them to play, practice, and train all under one roof in a convenient location, said owner Joe Drain. “Our athlete development model at Compete has worked to consistently propel our athletes to the next level in both sports and life. We are beyond excited to partner with an elite program like GPS and we look forward to providing our soccer athletes with an additional set of resources for growth on and off the pitch,” said Drain.
GPS Compete will be fielding a U8 Boys team in the GPS Early Development League this spring prior to a full roll-out of tryouts for all age groups in June for the 2019/20 season.
