Extensive partnership between clubs announced

Waltham, November 30, 2016: Global Premier Soccer (GPS) are pleased to announce an extensive partnership with Black Rock FC that will see the club join the GPS network with immediate effect. Black Rock FC is based in western Massachusetts and runs its programs in that region and in parts of northwestern Connecticut and will now be known as GPS Black Rock FC.

Black Rock FC was formed in 2013 by Jon Moodey, the former Head Coach at Berkshire School. During his time at Berkshire, Moodey built Berkshire School into a national prep power, winning three consecutive National Championships from 2012-2014. He designed Black Rock FC to be a meaningful off-season development and showcase program for motivated prep school soccer players. In just its first few years the program has grown rapidly and gained national attention for its quality of play and results.  Playing largely an independent schedule, Black Rock FC competes in friendly matches, showcases and tournaments against top international clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur FC (England), Sao Paulo FC (Brazil), Deportivo Toluca FC (Mexico), Maccabi Tel Aviv FC (Israel) and excellent domestic clubs like the Philadelphia Union, New England Revolution, and IMG Academy. This year, Black Rock FC will enter formal league play for the first time with its new partnership with GPS, but it will continue to play some of the nation’s top tournaments and showcases.

Beyond the field, Black Rock FC has always emphasized character development within its program, and this year it will launch formal leadership and service programs that are designed to help players grow in powerful ways as leaders and global minded community members. The emphasis on character development has helped Black Rock players distinguish themselves within their school communities for their strong commitment to service, leadership, and academic excellence. As a result of these combined experiences, Black Rock FC players have been able to continue their soccer and studies at excellent colleges like Boston College, Bowdoin, Colgate, Dartmouth, Middlebury, Georgetown, Northeastern, UConn, Wake Forest, Wesleyan, and Yale. For some Black Rock FC players, there is a chance to play professionally as was illustrated recently when Jack Harrison, a former Black Rock FC player and 2015 graduate of Berkshire School, became the #1 overall pick in the 2016 MLS Super Draft.

“We are thrilled about the partnership with GPS because it presents a great platform for Black Rock FC to continue to grow in powerful ways,” notes Director of GPS Black Rock FC, Jon Moodey. “GPS has strong leadership team and an impressive record of exciting and innovative thinking within the soccer world, and we are excited to have the opportunity to work with such a well-established and reputable organization.  This association will surely benefit Black Rock FC as it looks to take big steps forward in the coming years, and we I’m confident that Black Rock FC can generate strong results on and off the field for our new partner, GPS. It’s going to be an exciting journey,” concludes Moodey.

GPS, the official North American Youth partner of FC Bayern Munich, is one of the largest and most successful soccer organizations in the United States providing player development programming in eleven States across the USA.  GPS was founded in 2001 with a mission to establish a new and unique player development model in the US and produce players who can compete at the highest level.

“We are excited to develop a partnership with Black Rock FC and further the GPS brand in the Berkshire region”, said GPS Director of Coaching Peter Bradley.  “At an operational level, the agreement will provide an enhanced and superior player development environment for existing Black Rock FC players and bring some outstanding soccer talent under the GPS umbrella,” added Bradley.
